The Splendid Ball Varaždin County held under the auspices of the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union
Under the auspices of the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the second Splendid Ball of Varaždin County, a unique historical event in Croatia, was held on Friday, January 24th at the Croatian National Theatre in Varaždin.
The Concert Hall, built in 1873 to celebrate music and dance, was visited by more than 400 guests. The partner of this event, celebrating 240-year long tradition of balls, was the Ball of the Burgenland Croats, which has been organized for more than seven decades. For the first time, Splendid Ball in Varaždin was co-financed by the European Cohesion Funds, within the framework of Let’s rEUnite: Together for Cohesion Project, implemented by the Assembly of European Regions (AER) and the mc Group.
A number of distinguished guests, Parliament Members, Ambassadors of the Republic of Austria and the Republic of Romania, Government officials and prominent figures in public and cultural life participated at the Ball.
The event was attended by the members of the Varaždin County Hussar Guards, who were joined by the Varaždin Civilian Guard – Purgara, Križevci Girls’ Guard, Karlovac Civilian Guard, Croatian Army cadets and troops from Linz, Das Tradition-Dragonerregiment no. 7 Herzog von Lothringen, 1st Squadron Linz.
In addition to the musical part of the program, this year’s Splendid Ball hosted the fashion show and the historical gastronomy of the 19th century Varaždin region.
