The participation of Alba County to BIO4ECO
Alba County is part of the Centru Region in Romania, which is a partner in the BIO4ECO – “Sustainable regional bioenergy policies: a game changer” project. The project is part of the Interregional Europe program, is running until 30 September 2020 and has received EUR 1,261,636 from the European Cohesion Fund. It aims to improve regional and national policies in the context of transitioning to a low carbon economy, by addressing energy efficiency and sustainability needs.
Romanian stakeholders have already benefited by the project through their participation in many events and workshops. Within the 6th Semester of the BIO4ECO project implementation, the Regional Development Agency of Alba Iulia in collaboration with the Commission’s science and knowledge service – Joint Research Centre organised a three day training course on project development and H2020 project writing. The meeting took place in Tîrgu Mures and gathered more than 30 representatives of the local stakeholder group such as universities, research institutes, clusters, NGOs and public authorities from Centru Region.
The objective of this event was to support the regional innovators to better identify their concrete needs and to maximise the chances of success for their project proposals concentrated on four key priorities: innovation and research, the digital agenda, support for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) and the low-carbon economy.
Furthermore, during the workshop and study visit in Paris which took place in September 2018, the participants had the opportunity to exchange local good practices and identify partners at a Pan-European level. Among the participants was the manager of Alba Local Energy Agency, Mr. Florin Andronescu, who explained that Alba County has great potential in the field of renewable energy solutions because of Alba’s biomass resources and good examples.
