The Career Management Conference in Alba, Romania

On November 20-22, 2019, the 1 Decembrie 1918 University of Alba Iulia and the Centre for Career Information, Counselling and Guidance (CICOC-UAB) organized the 7th edition of the ” Career Management ” conference. Like every year, the event was dedicated to students, graduates, as well as teachers and employers. The conference program included interactive workshops in the field of personal development, lectures held by specialists in the field of career management and examples of good practices from the business sector.

In this year’s edition of the conference, the new topic of interest was the Cohesion Policy of the European Union. The presentation of this topic aimed to help young people orientate themselves towards developing their own businesses by accessing European funds. During the conference, the students received additional materials and information regarding the Cohesion Policy which were distributed at the stand of the Office of the European Assembly of Regions (AER) in Alba Iulia.

On the first day of the conference, young people had the chance to develop their skills by participating at an exercise with 29 companies from all over the country. The exercise simulated different interactive work situations and provided young people with professional advice in order to succeed at their first jobs. The second day was dedicated to the students, who had the chance to participate at a business plan competition organized in the Great Hall of the University. The Office of AER in Alba Iulia awarded a special prize to those who proved that they had acquired great knowledge about Cohesion Policy.

Finally, young people who wanted to learn more about Cohesion Policy participated at the workshop “Benefits of European cohesion policy in our country / region. Let’s Get Together 4 cohesion! ”, which was held on Friday in the Aula Mică Hall. During this workshop Florin Andronescu, the director of the Local Energy Agency of Alba, discussed with the students about his experience of using the Cohesion Policy funds, how a business plan is created and how to develop their own business.
