Entrepreneurship in Catalonia gets a boost from the ERDF

Barcelona Activa is the Local Development Agency of the Barcelona City Council. Its mission is to offer quality information and tools to entrepreneurs with business ideas, so they can start their businesses in Barcelona.

The Agency has created the UXLab (User Experience Laboratory), which is located in their Glòries incubator. The service supports companies in improving the user experience and accessibility to their products and services in order to maximize their competitiveness in the market. Also, the service provides business incubators, which are innovative environments facilitating the creation and growth of business projects.

Two companies, which have already used the UXLab, are examples of how beneficial the service can be to entrepreneurship. In particular, the biomedical startup Kiversal has tested how user friendly their new audiometer is, while Foods for Tomorrow managed to identify a problem with the packaging of one of its products.

The total cost of the project amounts to EUR 4.2 million, half of which is coming from the European Regional Development Fund.
